Ministry of Economy of Ukraine, posted 11 July 2023 12:50

To date, more than a third of the agricultural land identified for priority recovery has been surveyed. According to the regional military administrations, in the past week alone deminers have surveyed more than 3,500 hectares of agricultural land in four regions of Ukraine.

In particular, 135 hectares of farmland were surveyed in Kharkiv region, 393 hectares in Chernihiv region, 1,019 hectares in Mykolaiv region and 1,968 hectares in Kherson region.

In total, more than 160,000 hectares of agricultural land have been surveyed since the beginning of the year, out of the 470,000 hectares identified for priority demining.

The Ukrainian Government is working to strengthen the capacity of mine action operators. In particular, the use of demining machines and modern survey technologies will significantly accelerate the pace of survey and demining.

As First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy of Ukraine Yuliya Svyrydenko noted during her recent working visit to Kharkiv, Ukraine expects to receive fifty demining vehicles and other necessary equipment by the end of the year. In addition, important steps have been taken to establish the production of components for foreign-made machines in Ukraine: Ukrainian, Croatian and Danish manufacturers have signed relevant memoranda. The Government is also supporting the expansion of production of purely domestic developments. For example, machines developed by Kharkiv-based manufacturers to prepare the ground for demining are currently undergoing certification.
