Ministry of Energy of Ukraine, posted 14 April 2023 10:01

The court decision in The Hague that obliges the russian federation to pay Naftogaz of Ukraine USD 5 billion for the lost property in Crimea is another victory for Ukraine on the energy front in its fight against the aggressor. This was emphasised by the Minister of Energy of Ukraine German Galushchenko.

"russia occupies Ukrainian territories, appropriates natural resources, shelves, property, nuclear power plants, destroys energy facilities and hopes to get away with it. But the international judicial system works on the principles of justice, not the whims of criminals. I am convinced that russia will compensate Ukraine not only for the losses caused by the occupation of Crimea, but will also pay for the damage caused by shelling and destruction of Ukrainian energy infrastructure," the Minister said.
