As part of preparations for the next heating season, Ukraine is carrying out a large-scale repair campaign at energy facilities and taking additional measures to increase electricity generation capacity. This was emphasized by the Minister of Energy of Ukraine German Galushchenko in an interview with the one of Ukrainian TV channels.
The Minister of Energy noted that the task to add 1.7 GW to the power system by the beginning of the heating season had already been partially realized.
"The repair campaign is well underway. We are also taking measures to ensure additional generation, which Ukraine has not had until now," the Minister said.
Commenting on the possible continuation of russian shelling of energy infrastructure facilities during the next winter, German Galushchenko said: "It is difficult to predict the consequences of the shelling. But I strongly believe that even if generation or transmission facilities are damaged, it will be of a temporary nature."
The Minister also emphasized that air defense systems were working much more efficiently today, ensuring the protection of energy facilities.
German Galushchenko assured that the power industry was making every effort to provide consumers with reliable electricity supply, emphasizing that, despite the predictions of pseudo-experts, there had been no rolling blackouts since April. Currently, temporary outages occur only due to bad weather.
