The Available Medicines program launched by the Gov’t a year ago was aimed at providing vital medicines for people with asthma, diabetes and cardiovascular disease had a great positive effect on improving public health. Over 8 million people applied and benefited from that, said Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman during the Government session.
"The program is delivering concrete results. Many people with chronic illnesses could not allow themselves to buy expensive drugs before. And we forged of how to create a program that would satisfy demands of citizens. We made an honest program. Eight million Ukrainian citizens use the Available Medicines program on daily basis. For each citizen, the state reimbursed 100%", claimed Volodymyr Groysman.
Due to timely medical assistance 5 -7% reduction in the number of calls for emergency aid to patients with acute heart or asthmatic attacks has been observed, the PM told.
According to the Head of Government, the program should be extended, and in this context the role of local authorities, as one of the agents of the initiative, is increasing.

More than 6 thousand pharmacies as well as leading pharmaceutical companies of Ukraine joined the program, with latter registering production growth just due the operation of the program. The nomenclature contained 157 medical product names last year. Over a year more than 15 million recipes were issued and reimbursed for.
