The draft State Budget for 2019 prepared by the Government for the second reading by the Parliament is a budget of economic stability and corresponds to the program of cooperation with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) , which is one of the main financial partners of the country. This was stated by Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman in an interview with Reuters.
"This budget is a budget of stability and a continuation of reforms," the Head of Government said. "It fully complies with our IMF program."
Volodymyr Groysman stressed that the timely adoption of the budget, which can happen next plenary week, will allow to continue cooperation with the IMF, as well as to unblock cooperation with the World Bank, the European Union and the United States Government on a new program for the allocation of state guarantees and he added that the Government expects to get a tranche under IMF program in December.
According to the Prime Minister, during the preparation of the state budget for the second reading, the Government did not slavishly meet the demands of the opposition parties, which, among other things, demanded to overturn the decision to increase the gas price. The Head of Government explained that the gas issue is on the agenda since 2008 and was Ukraine's commitment to international partners. It’s cancellation is a typical populist step. "And populism has already led to the weakness of Ukraine. This can not be tolerated," stressed Volodymyr Groysman.
