The President of the Republic of Suriname, Chandrikapersad Santokhi, and the First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine, Minister of Economy of Ukraine, Yuliia Svyrydenko, as well as the Deputy Minister of Economy and Trade Representative of Ukraine, Taras Kachka, addressed the possibility of implementing joint projects in agriculture and mining during the working visit of the Ukrainian delegation to the Dominican Republic.

‘Both Ukraine and Suriname are interested in strengthening trade between our countries. The most promising sectors are agriculture and mining, in particular oil and gas production. I am grateful to the President of Suriname for the offer to our investors to consider specific investment projects,' said Yuliia Svyrydenko.

The parties also agreed to exchange experience, as Suriname, like Ukraine, actively cooperates with the International Monetary Fund. The country is preparing for the seventh review of its Extended Fund Facility. Ukraine has completed the fourth review. In addition, Suriname has extensive experience in overcoming the economic crisis.

The parties also discussed further work on President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's Peace Formula.

‘We highly appreciate the participation of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Suriname in the First Global Peace Summit, as well as the decision of Suriname to join the Joint Communiqué on A Peace Framework. Suriname's voice and active role in the peace process are valuable for us. We have invited Suriname to join the working groups on the points of the Peace Formula, such as food security and nuclear safety,’ added Yuliia Svyrydenko.

‘I am grateful for the steadfast support for Ukraine and the clear position that the leadership of world leaders for the sake of Ukraine should lead to the end of the war,’ said the First Deputy Minister.
