Prime Ministers of Ukraine and Sweden tackle urgent security issues

On Tuesday, February 22, the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal had a telephone conversation with the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Sweden Magdalena Andersson.

The heads of government discussed curbing Russia's aggression, coordinating the sanctions policy and economic cooperation issues as well.

"We are grateful to Sweden for the support of Ukraine against the backdrop of another aggression by Russia. We believe that the rapid consolidated position of our partners will be a clear signal of the inadmissibility of further escalation. We expect the strengthening of sanctions against the aggressor, inter alia the ultimate ban on the commissioning of the Nord Stream 2 pipeline," said Denys Shmyhal.

The Prime Minister of Sweden stressed that the illegal actions of Russia would get a strong response by the EU in the form of sanctions. Ms Magdalena Andersson also said that the Government of the Kingdom of Sweden had adopted a decision on allocating over EUR 1.8 million to the Red Cross as humanitarian aid to Ukraine.

The Head of the Government of Ukraine thanked for this important decision and for Sweden's consistent support of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of our state.
