The reform of the New Ukrainian School (NUS) continues in Ukraine. From September 1, NUS will start in the pilot 5th grades of 136 schools in Ukraine. This was stated by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal during his introductory speech at the Government meeting on August 26.

"This model of organizing the educational process is designed to teach children critical thinking, and instead of simply memorizing information - to acquire competencies for the application of knowledge in real life," Denys Shmyhal said.

The Prime Minister also stressed that every teacher should be able to use a personal computer.

"Ukraine continues to implement a program to provide educators with the necessary technical tools to organize the educational process, including within the distance learning," the Head of Government stressed.

According to the Prime Minister, this year the state has allocated a subvention to the tune of UAH 1 billion to purchase laptops for teachers.
