Prime Minister of Ukraine and U.S. Secretary of Transportation tackle new logistics opportunities for Ukraine

Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal during a working visit to Washington on April 22, met with U.S. Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg. The parties discussed the restoration of critical infrastructure and the opening of new logistics opportunities for Ukraine.

"Ukraine needs support in restoring critical infrastructure, restoring logistics routes and creating new ones. In particular, this applies to the development of river infrastructure and the construction of river ports. Developed logistics is a necessary basis for economic recovery and upturn, as well as an important element for further economic integration with the European Union and other partner countries, "said the Prime Minister of Ukraine.

Denys Shmyhal dwelled on the important need of Ukraine in pontoon bridges and bridge structures for rapid deployment. This will enable the country to respond quickly to logistical challenges in wartime.

For his part, U.S. Secretary of Transportation expressed readiness to provide all possible support and technical assistance in the restoration of critical infrastructure. According to him, this is important for the provision of civilian needs and for the functioning of strategic sectors of the economy.

Moreover, the Ukrainian Prime Minister stressed the importance of imposing a widespread transport embargo by banning russian ships from entering ports to reduce russia's transport capabilities.
