The Government of Ukraine and the Government of the French Republic have signed four framework agreements to the tune of more than €1.3 billion. The signing took place during the official visit of the Minister of the Economy, Finance and Recovery of the French Republic Bruno Le Maire to Kyiv on May 13.
According to the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal, the intergovernmental agreements will contribute to the development of the country, improve the lives of Ukrainians and increase the level of cooperation with the French Republic.
The parties have signed agreements providing for the implementation of projects on the following:
- supply of 130 electric locomotives by Alstom for a total of up to €900 million. The share of localization of production will be 35%.
- supply of specialized rescue equipment for work on high-rise buildings, 370 ladders worth up to €300 million. This project should be the basis for upgrading firefighting equipment to extinguish fires and rescue people in high-rise buildings.
- improvement of water supply in Luhansk region in the amount of €70 million. Residents of more than 20 cities and towns will have access to quality potable water.
- improvement of water supply in Kyiv in the amount of €70 million. The implementation of the project will allow to improve the quality of drinking water in the capital of Ukraine for more than 25% of its inhabitants.
"All the projects provide for localization at Ukrainian enterprises from 30% and above which is fully in line with our strategy for the development of national production," said Denys Shmyhal.
According to the Prime Minister of Ukraine at the signing ceremony, in accordance with the new National Security Strategy, the French Republic enters TOP-10 strategic partners of Ukraine.
"It is extremely important for us to continue the high level of cooperation that has now been formed between our countries," the Prime Minister of Ukraine stressed.
The Head of Government thanked the French Republic for its support to Ukraine.
The signing of the agreements was welcomed by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy. The Head of State noted that it is critical that such projects are implemented at a high state level.
For his part, the Minister of Economy, Finance and Recovery of the French Republic Bruno Le Maire said that Ukraine has significant economic potential and opportunities. He added that Ukraine and France have a lot in common to prolong joint work in the future.
