Prime Minister: Reconstruction of emergency department of Zaporizhia regional hospital will improve the quality of medical care

During a working trip to Zaporizhia region on November 2, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal got acquainted with the reconstruction of the regional clinical hospital and the establishment of a medical research-practical and educational complex in south-eastern Ukraine on the basis of the Zaporizhia regional clinical hospital.

This year, as part of the President’s program "Great Construction", the reconstruction of the premises on the ground floor of the main building was completed and an emergency department was established. In general, for 2019-2021 in the Zaporizhia regional clinical hospital at the expense of a subvention from the state budget the premises of the polyclinic were repaired, as well as the thermal modernization of buildings was carried out.

In addition, according to the Prime Minister, with the support of the European Investment Bank, the thermal modernization of the main building is currently underway.

"The government has consistently supported the development of the medical sector, gradually increasing funding on this sector in the state budget. Increasing the salaries of doctors and improving their working conditions is an integral part of the development of medicine. Reconstruction of the emergency department and equipping it with modern equipment will greatly facilitate the work of doctors, increase safety and quality in the provision of medical care," the PM underscored.

Denys Shmyhal stressed that the Government will continue to fund projects to modernize community hospitals so that residents can receive quality medical services.

According to the Zaporizhzhia Regional State Administration, the main priorities for the functioning of the reconstructed emergency department are the efficiency of medical care, a comprehensive approach at the stage of diagnosis and a narrowly focused approach at the stage of treatment. One of the main priorities of the department is accessibility.

The department will serve about 20,000 patients annually. In total, UAH 10 million was spent on the equipment and facilities of the department from the state and UAH 17.5 million from the local budgets.

The Prime Minister also inspected the work of the vaccination point at the primary health care center № 10 in Zaporizhia.
