The interim results of the "Ukraine without smuggling" campaign kicked off by the Government are a good signal and proof of large illicit financial flows. Thus, we have to take steps to deshadow these gray schemes and direct obtained resources to the state budget, Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman claimed.
"During the two months, we accumulated in the budget a sum worth UAH 12 bln due to de-shadowing. We put a halt on these schemes. We are confronting serious clans who have significant resources and are committed to stop us. But I am convinced that that the issue of combating smuggling is a task of the whole law enforcement system, in particular, the State Fiscal Service, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, the Prosecutor General's Office, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine. We have to bring the "collaborates in schemes" to justice and not allow them to plunder the country’s recources", the Head of the Government stressed.
Background
According to the State Fiscal Service, the growth of customs payments in only two months of the year - from June to August - increased by UAH 12.6 bln compared to the same period of the last year. And since the beginning of the year, a total volume of payments obtained by the SFS grew by more than UAH 50 bln.
