Prime Minister of Ukraine Oleksiy Honcharuk had a meeting with Director-General of the European Commission Directorate-General for European Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Christian Danielsson.
“European and Euro-Atlantic integration is our key priority. And we are not just talking about that, we prove it with our actions. In 5 years, we want to get as close as possible to the EU membership. And on this path we need your help,” the Ukrainian Prime Minister stressed during the meeting.
Oleksiy Honcharuk added that Ukraine hopes for a special format of partnership within the framework of the Eastern Partnership initiative, and emphasized on the interest of the state in signing the ACAA (Agreement on Conformity Assessment and Acceptance of Industrial Products) - the agreement on the so-called “industrial free visa regime”, which will be a significant step on the path of Ukraine towards European integration.
Christian Danielsson agreed, stressing the importance for the European Commission of exploring this issue for further negotiations and the conclusion of the ACAA. The parties agreed to discuss the implementation of this process later.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Ukrainian Government expressed his hope that the European Union could implement as soon as possible municipal projects in the Azov Sea region, which the EU Assessment Mission included in the report "EU Support to the Azov Sea Region: Proposals for Additional Actions" in early 2019. This report envisaged, in particular, a waste collection and treatment project in Mariupol and a trolleybus transport services development project in Kherson.
Moreover, the Prime Minister of Ukraine called on the European Union to invest in the seaports of Mariupol and Berdiansk.
At the end of the meeting, Oleksiy Honcharuk thanked the Honorable Guest for the support the European Union is providing to Ukraine and expressed the commitment to further strengthening the EU-Ukraine bilateral relations.
