Prime Minister: We engage in the implementation of an action plan on integration into the European energy system
The Government of Ukraine is consistent with its activities to ensure the implementation of the action plan on the integration of the Ukrainian grid system into the European Union's grid, and has a clear understanding of how to act in case of further attempts by the Russian Federation to block the operation of the Ukrainian gas transport system. Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman stated during the Question Time for the Government at the Verkhovna Rada.
"We are currently undergoing internal procedures to deepen integration with the EU in the energy sector. This is one of the four priorities that we announced during the Ukraine-EU Summit at the end of last year", said Volodymyr Groysman. "We understand that Russia will seize every opportunity to block the Ukrainian GTS. And we have to exert every effort to integrate with the European system. "
At that, answering the questions of the parliamentarians on the continuation of gas transit, the Head of Government reminded that the provision of transit guarantees, the separation of the GTS and its certification in line with European legislation is among the requirements imposed on the leadership of NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine and stipulated for in a new contract with the head the company.
"And, certainly, there is plan B in case Russia will resort to other actions (for example, it will stop supplying fuel)", said Volodymyr Groysman. "The issue is rather complicated and critical."
