“Side by Side” is being consolidated into the National Unifying Platform of Cohesive Communities, which will help communities to interact in achieving common goals. This was emphasised by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal during a meeting of the platform on the occasion of the Day of Unity of Ukraine.

The event was attended by government officials, MPs, representatives of local self-government and NGOs.

The Head of Government emphasised the importance of this national project, particularly during wartime when support from rear-guard communities is vital to frontline towns and villages.

“This is a concrete assistance in the restoration of cities and villages that were attacked by russia and were destroyed. This is humanitarian aid. This includes food, medicines and many other things that the residents of the affected communities need right here, today and now. It is educational and cultural communication between people, especially children, from different parts of Ukraine. This is the way to unity at the level of personal communication,” said Denys Shmyhal.

He expressed gratitude to the communities already participating in the process and encouraged others to join and create a broad network of solidarity.

“Unified Ukraine is each and every one of us. And unity is our good intentions and actions that give us a sense of a common home and a large family. A family where people will always help and support,” the Prime Minister stressed.

Denys Shmyhal mentioned that President Zelenskyy’s Internal Resilience Plan, presented last autumn, emphasises strong, united communities.
