Starting in October, the Government will launch a program of subsidized mortgage lending, updated to meet the needs of wartime. Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal told during a session of the Cabinet of Ministers on September 16.

“Mortgages at 3% per annum will be provided to Ukrainian military personnel, law enforcement officers, teachers, doctors, and scientists. An initial payment of 20% and a mortgage term of up to 20 years allows everyone who deals with protection, healing, and teaching Ukraine to get their own home,” Denys Shmyhal stressed adding that the Government had adopted two resolutions allowing to trigger the program under the upgraded rules.

The Prime Minister accentuated that the relevant function would appear in the Diia. The service is currently under development: “You fill out an application, choose housing, receive a response from the banks, sign a contract for the purchase of housing and a contract for a mortgage.”

According to the Head of Government, due to the affordable mortgage program, the state wants to provide hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians with their own comfortable housing. At that, this program should become one of the drivers of the recovery of our economy and the reconstruction of our state.
