A commemorative meeting of the Plenum of the Supreme Court of Ukraine was held with the participation of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal and Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Ruslan Stefanchuk.
The event is dedicated to the 5th anniversary of the Supreme Court and the 105th anniversary of the General Court of the Ukrainian People’s Republic. The event was also attended by representatives of the Government, the Office of the President, foreign embassies in Ukraine.
“During these 105 years, our country has come a long way. Today we are again fighting for the independence of our State. The State where there will be justice for everyone. The full-scale invasion of russia on February 24 created an unprecedented level of challenges for the state and judicial authorities in absolutely all spheres. And the Supreme Court has demonstrated that it can effectively respond to these challenges,” the Prime Minister said.
Denys Shmyhal noted that the Supreme Court has demonstrated, by many of its decisions, that it understands the demand of Ukrainians for justice. According to the Head of Government, one of the main tasks on the way to Ukraine’s membership in the EU will be to form a transparent and fair judicial system. The reform of the judicial system initiated by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy will become one of the foundations on which the new Ukraine will be built.
