During a working visit to France on December 12, Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal met with Minister of Energy Transition of the French Republic Agnès Pannier-Runacher. The parties discussed the support of the energy sector of Ukraine after russian shelling, the importance and possibility of imposing sanctions against russia in the supply of nuclear fuel and technologies for nuclear energy.
The Head of Ukrainian Government thanked France for the assistance provided, in particular for almost 73 tonnes of energy equipment that has already been transferred to Ukrainian companies to restore and stabilize the country’s energy system.
“We are working with partners to ensure that Ukraine successfully passes the winter and moves on to sustainable recovery and adoption of new modern technologies in the energy sector,” the Prime Minister of Ukraine noted.
During the meeting Denys Shmyhal stressed the need for joint counteraction to nuclear terrorism by russia.
“Radiation and nuclear safety is the first point of the peace plan of the President of Ukraine. russia must withdraw its troops from Zaporizhzhya NPP and stop illegal actions against the Ukrainian station. We must expand the IAEA mission in order to create a demilitarized zone and start working on introduction of effective sanctions against russia and its companies in the nuclear sphere,” the Prime Minister of Ukraine stressed.
In turn, Agnès Pannier-Runacher informed that France is preparing for Ukraine another batch of equipment necessary for the restoration of the energy system.
