On 11 December, Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko chaired the meeting of the energy headquarters, attended by relevant ministries, heads of energy companies, market regulators, and members of parliament.

Participants heard reports on the state of the energy system. Actions were coordinated regarding:

  • ensuring necessary reserves of fuel and equipment;
  • increasing generation;
  • protecting energy facilities;
  • providing people with electricity.

“I am keeping under control the implementation of the Government’s decision to review the list of critical infrastructure. We expect actual optimisation of electricity consumption at the local level from all regional military administrations,” noted the Head of Government.

Particular attention was paid to connecting cogeneration units to the grid. The relevant government decisions were adopted last week. Thanks to this, distributed generation facilities will be able to operate fully and substantially alleviate the electricity deficit.

Yulia Svyrydenko instructed all ministries and regional military administrations to urgently ensure the availability of alternative power sources (generators) for all life-support facilities:

“Our goal is for people to have electricity. We expect a reduction in the duration of outages as early as this weekend,” emphasised the Prime Minister.
