Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal held an online meeting with representatives of the United States Congress. The parties discussed financial and military support, anti-corruption reform, the recovery of Ukraine and food security.
The meeting was also attended by Minister of Finance of Ukraine Sergii Marchenko and Minister of Justice of Ukraine Denys Maliuska.
According to the Prime Minister, the United States has provided Ukraine with almost USD 19.3 billion in direct budgetary support since the beginning of the russian invasion, including USD 6.6 billion this year.
"This support helps us to pay pensions, assistance to internally displaced persons, salaries to doctors and teachers," said Denys Shmyhal.
The Head of the Ukrainian Government praised the significant attention of the United States to the reconstruction of our country, in particular, he thanked for the announced package of USD 1.3 billion.
"Our priority now is a rapid recovery: energy, housing, critical infrastructure, humanitarian demining, support for small and medium-sized businesses. We are grateful for USD 657 million for the modernisation of critical infrastructure," the Prime Minister said.
Denys Shmyhal also focused on countering russia's food blackmail and sanctions against the russian nuclear industry.
Moreover, the PM thanked the U.S. Congress for its bipartisan and bicameral support in our fight for common values and freedom.
