In order to ensure stable and uninterrupted gas supply to Ukrainian consumers, the national gas distribution network operator Gas Distribution Networks of Ukraine LLC (Gas Networks) is implementing projects to build gas distribution pipelines despite the risks and military challenges.
In particular, the village of Sushno in Lviv region, which has never had a centralized gas supply, is now connected to the gas supply system.
As part of the project, nearly 9 km of distribution pipeline was laid, gas inlets to 183 residential buildings were installed, and gas regulating equipment was set up. Residents received gas supply and will have heating in winter.
In total, 4 more gas pipeline construction projects are being implemented as part of the Settlements Gasification Program in the Peremyshliany, Sokal, Radekhiv, and Turkiv districts of Lviv region.
As a reminder, in November 2022, the Government, on the proposal of Energy Minister German Galushchenko, decided to renegotiate the contracts for the operation of state-owned gas distribution networks, which launched the process of returning state property to state control. The management of gas distribution networks in Lviv region was effectively transferred to Naftogaz Group in June, and on September 1, Gas Networks, a gas distribution company from the Naftogaz Group.
"Returning gas distribution networks to state control is a matter of national security, especially given all the risks and military challenges. It is also very important to ensure the continuity of gas supplies and create new opportunities for the development of gas infrastructure. This is the position and tasks for a responsible national gas distribution network operator," said Energy Minister German Galushchenko.
In addition to the implementation of new projects, Gas Networks is responsible for fulfilling its duties by rebuilding the gas infrastructure damaged by the enemy in the frontline regions. In particular, 1,230 kilometers of gas pipelines destroyed and damaged by the enemy and 300 gas control points have been restored in Kharkiv region. In Dnipropetrovsk region, repair teams have been sent to repair damaged gas pipelines more than 1,500 times during the enemy shelling, and gas supply is restored within 1-2 days.
Currently, Gas Networks serves 4 million consumers in Dnipropetrovsk, Zhytomyr, Kyiv, Kirovohrad, Lviv, and Kharkiv regions.
