Ministry of Defense units cleared more than 4,700 hectares of liberated territory of mines in six months

During the first half of 2026, units of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine cleared 4,715 hectares of territory liberated from russian occupiers of mines.

Specifically, the Ministry of Defense’s demining units surveyed and cleared the following areas of mines and explosive remnants of war:

  • 831.85 hectares of farmland;
  • 16.14 km of roads;
  • 6.72 km of power lines;
  • 186.33 km of railroad tracks.

In the first six months of 2026, demining specialists detected and destroyed 1,914 explosive objects, and a total of 482,330 since the start of the full-scale war.

According to the Main Directorate for Mine Action, Civil Protection, and Environmental Safety of the Ministry of Defense, demining units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the State Special Transport Service are being deployed to remove explosive ordnance from de-occupied territories.
