On May 20, 2021, a working meeting was held between the First Deputy Head of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, Major General Volodymyr Nikiforenko, and the Head of the Defense Department at the US Embassy in Ukraine, Daniel Miller.
At the beginning of the meeting, First Deputy Head of the Border Guard Service Volodymyr Nikiforenko thanked for the support and assistance in counteracting Russian aggression, defending the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine and informed the US delegation about the situation in the joint forces operation zone and the administrative border with the occupied territory of Crimea as well as the situation at the state border.
In addition, Volodymyr Nikiforenko acquainted his colleagues with the main directions of development of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.
The issues of further cooperation were discussed at the meeting, in particular regarding the training of the personnel of the border commandant's offices of rapid response and development of the maritime component.
In turn, the Chief of the Defense Department at the US Embassy in Ukraine reaffirmed the readiness of the American side to strengthen cooperation in involving the Border Guard Service of Ukraine in international exercises to increase interoperability and improve the system of reporting of the situation at sea.
