Processing industry is the leading contributor to tax revenue: it accounted for 17.9 per cent of all revenue to the consolidated budget over a five-month period

According to figures for January–May 2026, enterprises in the processing industry made the largest contribution to the budget. They accounted for 17.9 per cent of all tax revenue to the consolidated budget.

This was reported by Lesia Karnaukh, Acting Head of the State Tax Service.

“The wholesale and retail trade sector, along with the repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles, accounted for 16.3 per cent of all tax revenue. The share from public administration and defence, as well as compulsory social insurance, stood at 11.9 per cent, whilst that from financial and insurance activities was 10.5 per cent,” she added.

The Head of the State Tax Service noted that taxes are not just about the budget. They are about what matters to each and every one of us: salaries, pensions and social programmes. Behind every figure are enterprises and businesses that continue to operate despite all the challenges.

Compared with the same period in 2025, the four sectors listed below showed the largest increase in taxes paid:

• processing – + UAH 25.8 billion (+17.3 per cent);

• financial and insurance activities – + UAH 24.9 billion (+32.2%);

• public administration and defence, compulsory social insurance – + UAH 17.1 billion (+17.4%);

• wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles – + UAH 14.4 billion (+9.9 per cent).
