Minister of Justice of Ukraine Pavlo Petrenko within the framework of a working visit to Argentina signed three interstate agreements: an Agreement between Ukraine and the Argentine Republic on Transfer of Sentenced Persons, an Agreement on Extradition between Ukraine and the Argentine Republic and an Agreement between Ukraine and the Argentine Republic on Mutual Legal Assistance in Criminal Matters.
"The signed documents are targeted to solve the two burning issues for Ukraine: to ensure the rights of citizens of both countries, including those who had problems with the law, on the territory of Ukraine and Argentina, and to increase the effectiveness of investigation proceedings of the line authorities of our countries", the Minister of Justice emphasized.
According to him, Ukraine has inked the abovesaid treaties almost with all the European and most leading countries of the world.
"From now on, we guarantee returning home and bringing to justice criminals who will try to hide in Argentina. Similarly, we can count on legal assistance and obtaining important information from the Argentina during inquiries", Pavlo Petrenko stressed.
On behalf of Argentina the Agreement between Ukraine and the Argentine Republic on transfer of sentenced persons was signed by Minister of Justice and Human Rights of Argentina Germán Garavano. On behalf of Argentina the Agreements between both countries on Extradition and Mutual Legal Assistance in Criminal Matters were inked by acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and Worship of Argentina Daniel Raimondi.
Apart from that, Pavlo Petrenko paid a visit to the Federative Republic of Brazil, in the framework of the visit he inked an Agreement on Legal Assistance and Legal Relations in Civil Matters.
The Minister placed a special emphasis on the fact that signing an intergovernmental agreement will allow to ensure full recognition and enforcement of decisions of the courts of both countries in administrative, civil and commercial disputes.
The agreement will step up cooperation between countries in gathering of evidence and obtaining documents or other information in relevant cases.
"The most crucial thing is that citizens will have full access to justice in both countries. Our core objective is to ensure justice in all its aspect ", Pavlo Petrenko claimed.
On behalf of the Federative Republic of Brazil the Agreement was signed by Minister of Justice and Public Security of Brazil Torquato Jardim.
