
Ostap Semerak: We are grateful to France for in-depth study of the exclusion zone possibilities
During the official presentation of the preliminary feasibility study on the installation of solar panels in the Chernobyl zone Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Ostap Semerak thanked the Government of France for the financial support.
He recalled the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources and State Agency of Ukraine on Exclusion Zone Management appealed to business and offered to apply for the allocation of land for the installation of renewable energy. During this period, more than 60 proposals were received (Denmark, USA, China, Germany, France, Belarus and others).
This project was supported at the highest State level. In June 2017, the President of the French Republic Emmanuel Macron during a meeting with President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko expressed interest in participating in the said project.
It should be noted that on Monday, March 19, a presentation of the preliminary feasibility study for the installation of the solar panels in the Chernobyl exclusion zone conducted by Tractebel Engineering, the global leader in renewable energy at the expense of the French government took place. The power station will have a capacity of 1.2 GW.
