Reconstruction, restoration and renewal of Ukraine are the steps that need to be taken for the new European future of Ukraine, stressed Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal in his address at the Ukrainian House in Davos on May 25.
According to the Head of Government, Ukraine wants to apply a unique synthesis of approaches to reconstruction. In particular, the regional approach, when allied countries, sister cities, international corporations take patronage over Ukrainian regions and help them with the reconstruction with grants, specialists and investments. As well as a parametric approach.
"It is more centralized, developed by the National Council for the Reconstruction, and concerns the formation of new standards in the spheres of public life. "Build back better" is the basis of this approach. These are, for example, construction of housing in line with new standards, restoration of metallurgical enterprises using modern "green technologies" or public buildings, in which there will be taken into account the principles of energy efficiency, barrier-free environment, innovation and, definitely, safety principles," said Denys Shmyhal.
The Prime Minister called on all friends and partners of Ukraine to join the reconstruction by replenishing the fund already established in Ukraine.
"We urge everyone who wants and feels ready to help Ukraine to use the United24 platform to contribute to our victory. But we call even more on the partner states to confiscate russian assets and direct these resources to the reconstruction of Ukraine," said Denys Shmyhal.
According to the Prime Minister, the basis of the country's renewal will be shaped by national security, European integration and economic transformation. He noted that the first essential factor in any further development is a high level of national security.
"To this end, we are working to optimize and improve the entire defense sphere, to establish long-term partnership with countries that will strengthen our military complex," said the Prime Minister.
According to Denys Shmyhal, European integration for Ukraine will mean open export markets, access to EU structural funds and, ultimately, long-awaited reunification with European nations, we have much more in common with as compared to our eastern neighbor.
Moreover, Denys Shmyhal emphasized that Ukraine aims to achieve breakthrough in economic growth, including focusing on the development of priority sectors of the economy: military-industrial complex, aerospace, deep processing in metallurgy and agro-industrial complex.
"In addition, we will account maximum for global trends such as sustainable development, green transformation and digitalization. We believe that all this will become a powerful driver of Ukraine’s economic growth," the Prime Minister stressed.
Denys Shmyhal noted that reliable allies who express readiness to help appear one of the decisive factors in the success of countries to be reborn after the war. He added that a prosperous and developed Ukraine is a great contribution to a prosperous and renewed Europe.
