Prime Minister of Ukraine Oleksiy Honcharuk signed two documents with the EIB and EBRD on EUR 900 million worth investment to build and reconstruct Ukrainian roads.
The issue at stake is the rehabilitation of the M05 Kyiv-Odesa road in Cherkasy, Kirovograd, Mykolaiv and Odesa regions, as well as the construction of the northern section of the bypass road around Lviv.
"Mariupol's effect works! Today we have signed two documents to the tune of EUR 900 million which will be used for reconstruction and construction of roads. It makes up 340 km in five regions. In three years Kyiv-Odesa route will become the first highway of the European-level! Kyiv-Odesa route connects the capital and the Ukrainian Black Sea ports," Oleksiy Honcharuk stated.
The Prime Minister added that the Government will continue to implement the necessary anti-corruption and institutional amendments in the legislation to further strengthen cooperation with the EIB, the EBRD and other international partners. And we appreciate the cooperation with the EIB and the EBRD.
Among the documents signed by the Prime Minister today are the Financing Agreement "European Roads of Ukraine III" (Trans-European Transport Network Development Project) between Ukraine and the European Investment Bank to the tune of EUR 450 million and the Memorandum of Understanding between the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development on the joint implementation of the Trans-European Transport Network Development project. The Memorandum aims to extend the cooperation between Ukraine and the EBRD in preparation of the financing program for another EUR 450 million.
The documents were signed within the framework of the EBRD Eastern Partnership Investment Summit held on November 22, 2019, in London, Great Britain.
