Prime Minister of Ukraine Oleksiy Honcharuk kicked off his visit to London by presenting state awards under the Decree of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy - Orders of Merit to the British MPs.
"These awards are a symbol of the deep gratitude of the Ukrainians for the principled stand in support of Ukraine's sovereignty, territorial integrity and independence, which the parliamentarians have demonstrated through their deeds," Oleksiy Honcharuk emphasized.
The awards were presented to John Whittingdale, Pauline Latham and Mick Antoniw.
John Whittingdale is the Chairman of the All-Party Parliamentary Friendship Group on Ukraine due to the efforts of whom Ukraine's issue was on the Parliament's agenda. Pauline Latham is the most famous figure who for decades has been demanding to recognize the 1932-1933 famine as a genocide against the Ukrainian people and to include the topic of famine in the school curriculum. Mick Antoniw was the initiator and author of the resolution of the European Committee of the Regions condemning the temporary occupation of Crimea by Russia.
"It is symbolic that the awarding ceremony took place today on the anniversary of the Revolution of Dignity. It is an honor for me to personally present these awards!" the Prime Minister of Ukraine noted.
