Communications Department of the Secretariat of the CMU, posted 20 January 2020 13:47

Utility bills for heating and hot water for Ukrainians have been reduced up to 30%. The decision to carry out the recalculation was adopted in 124 cities of Ukraine as of December 2019. This was made possible under the Government's decision No. 108 on reducing the price of gas for district heating providers, following a commission by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

«No sooner said than done! Reducing the bill now is the result, first of all, of the joint work of the President, the Government and local authorities. This became possible as gas prices on the market have declined. And the Government has given the local government a mechanism to make these adjustments in utility bills calculation,» Prime Minister Oleksiy Honcharuk stressed, adding that the Government would further keep the situation under control.

In particular, 16 regional centers of Ukraine have adjusted the utility bills rates: Vinnytsia, Lutsk, Dnipro, Zhytomyr, Zaporizhia, Kropyvnytsky, Lviv, Odesa, Rivne, Ternopil, Kharkiv, Kherson, Khmelnytsky, Chernihiv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Kyiv.

For example, in December 2019, the bills rates were reduced as follows: from UAH 80 in Kyiv region and up to UAH 292 in Lviv region for residents of 1-room apartments; from UAH 110 in Chernihiv region up to UAH 435 in Dnipropetrovsk region for 2-room apartments; from UAH 140 in Dnipropetrovsk region up to UAH 563 UAH in Rivne region for 3-room apartments.

In Ternopil, according to the decision of local self-government bodies, the residents received a discount for heating services for three months: October, November, December of 2019.
