Prime Minister: Government restores the construction of the bridge in Zaporizhzhya

Government restores the completion of the bridge in Zaporizhzhya, which was launched 15 years ago. This was announced by Prime Minister of Ukraine at a briefing at the Government House.

Today the Government House hosted a signing ceremony of a contract on the construction of a bridge in Zaporizhzhya between the State Road Agency of Ukraine (Ukravtodor) and Turkish company Onur Taahhut. The company will perform works worth  UAH 11.9 billion (including VAT).

Construction of the bridge began in 2004 but has not been completed in 15 years.

The Government adopted a separate decree to finance the construction of the bridge, which allowed the allocation of additional financing outside the State Road Fund.

"The bridge in Zaporizhya is important for the whole country, it is a complicated engineering object, the history of modern Ukraine does not have any analogues to this construction," the Chairman of Ukravtodor Oleksandr Kubrakov said.

It should be reminded that the contractor of the construction of the bridge was selected on February 21, 2020, based on the results of the tender announced by the Service of highways in the Zaporizhzhya region.

The deadline for construction works is March 3, 2024.

According to the construction project, it is a mainline of continuous traffic with the length of 9 km long that connects the right bank and the central left bank parts of Zaporizhzhya and the main northern industrial zone through both branches of the Dnieper River and Khortytsia Island.

The highway consists of six transport interchanges, 27 artificial structures - these are two extra bridges with separate buildings for each direction of traffic.
