Oleksii Sobolev talks about top priorities for cooperation with U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent in Washington


European energy security, strengthening sanctions, and attracting American capital to Ukraine were among the topics discussed during a meeting between a Ukrainian delegation led by Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko and U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent.

The meeting, which took place on October 15, was also attended by Ukrainian Minister of Economy, Environment, and Agriculture Oleksii Sobolev as part of the Ukraine's Government delegation. The event was held on the sidelines of the Annual Meetings of the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund in Washington, D.C., the United States.

The parties discussed the U.S.-Ukraine Reconstruction Investment Fund, which is now operational. At the same time, Ukraine is awaiting a number of important decisions for its full functioning. The first portfolio of potential projects is currently being formed, with a focus on critical minerals, energy, and infrastructure.

The participants also addressed the issue of attracting large American capital to Ukraine. The priorities of Ukrainian-American cooperation are defense, sanctions, and financial support.

In addition, securing Europe's energy security and the need to strengthen sanctions against russia were among the important topics discussed. The Ukrainian side presented joint proposals with international partners to increase pressure on the aggressor country.
