Service of Minister of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, posted 01 May 2023 17:46

Today, Minister of the Cabinet of Ministers Oleh Nemchinov met with the MP of the Stortinget (Parliament) of Norway, Chairman of the Standing Committee on Scrutiny and Constitutional Affairs of the Stortinget of Norway, Peter Frølich.

The meeting was also attended by Deputy Minister of Defence of Ukraine Oleksandr Polishchuk, representatives of the Secretariat of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, as well as representatives of the Norwegian public who actively support Ukrainian soldiers.

"I am sincerely grateful to friendly Norway for the crucial military, financial and humanitarian assistance to our country. Thanks to the heroic Armed Forces of Ukraine and your reliable shoulder, we have survived and continue to bring our victory closer every day. First of all, I would like to express my sincere gratitude for the five-year support package worth NOK 75 billion that the Stortinget has approved in support of Ukraine," said Minister of the Cabinet of Ministers Oleh Nemchinov.

We remind you that on 6 February 2023, the Government of Norway announced an unprecedented Nansen Support Programme for Ukraine: NOK 75 billion (€7 billion) for the period 2023-2027 for military and humanitarian needs. NOK 15 billion is provided for 2023 (in addition to the previously budgeted NOK 3 billion for 2023).

In this way, Norway demonstrates its strong political support for Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity both bilaterally and in multilateral formats (UN, NATO, Council of Europe, OSCE), and strongly condemns russia's aggression against Ukraine from the first day of the military invasion.

The Government of Ukraine is grateful for the assistance of Norway in further strengthening defence support for our country. We are also interested in further cooperation in training and rehabilitation of our military personnel, repair of military equipment and participation of Norwegian specialists in demining of the liberated Ukrainian territories.

In addition, the Ukrainian side is interested in Norway's continued support for Ukraine's Euro-Atlantic integration and assistance in reaching a political consensus among NATO member states to support our application to join NATO. The signing of the Joint Declaration on Ukraine's Euro-Atlantic Integration remains among our political priorities on the bilateral agenda.
