Oksen Lisovyi meets with Canadian Ambassador to Ukraine Larisa Galadza
On May 24, 2023, Minister of Education and Science Oksen Lisovyi met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Canada to Ukraine Larisa Galadza at the Ministry of Education and Science.
The parties discussed current issues of bilateral cooperation in the field of education.
The Minister expressed his gratitude to the Government of Canada for its systematic support to Ukraine and for all the measures taken to help Ukrainian pupils, students, teachers and researchers who are currently internally displaced in Canada.
In his speech, Oksen Lisovyi emphasised the importance of international partners’ support for Ukraine in the implementation of infrastructure projects aimed at restoring damaged educational institutions and equipping them with educational infrastructure and technology, creating digital education centres, and providing participants in the distance learning process with the digital equipment necessary for study and research.
In turn, Larisa Galadza assured of further assistance to Ukraine and stressed the importance of expanding bilateral partnership in education.
During the meeting, Oksen Lisovyi outlined his vision of education reform in all areas: pre-school, school, vocational and higher education, which includes the modernisation of higher education institutions, security of the educational environment, and compensation for losses caused by russia’s full-scale armed invasion of Ukraine. The Minister stressed the importance of building a strong education system in Ukraine, taking into account the urgent challenges of the war, as well as modernising psychological support services in general secondary education institutions of Ukraine.
Larisa Galadza provided information on the specifics of the Ukrainian school network in Canada, its composition and curriculum.
The parties expressed their mutual appreciation for the informative meeting and hope for further cooperation in the field of education between Ukraine and Canada.
