  • Strategic issues of environmental protection development discussed

Strategic issues of environmental protection development were discussed during a meeting between Svitlana Hrynchuk, Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine, and Harry Boyd-Carpenter, Managing Director of the EBRD's Climate Strategy and Delivery.

The parties discussed Ukraine's preparation for and participation in the COP29 Climate Summit, the EBRD's support for climate change adaptation, digital transformation policy, implementation of forestry reforms and biodiversity conservation.

Svitlana Hrynchuk stressed that without integrating environmental and climate issues into other areas of public policy, it would be impossible to achieve the goals of the European Union.

The parties paid special attention to further cooperation to modernise the system of geoinformation management and digitisation of data on mineral deposits, which are on the list of strategic and critical for both Ukraine and the EU.

"We have previously agreed with Mr Henry on the EBRD's support in these important areas. I am grateful to my colleagues from the EBRD and personally to Harry Boyd-Carpenter for a productive meeting," summed up Svitlana Hrynchuk.
