Photovoltaic power stations have been installed at 21 primary healthcare facilities in the Kyiv region. This initiative is part of the Health Enhancement And Lifesaving (HEAL) Ukraine Project, implemented by the Ministry of Health with funding from the World Bank and the Council of Europe Development Bank.

Specifically, six general practice and family medicine clinics in Bucha, five in Borodyanka, and four in Tarashcha primary healthcare centres have become energy-independent. Photovoltaic stations have also been installed at three clinics in the Dmytrivka medical centre, clinics in Boryspil city and Pereiaslav primary healthcare centres, and the primary healthcare centre in Boyarka.

These medical facilities will use solar energy as an autonomous power source and store it for future use. Savings on electricity costs can be redirected to other priority needs of the facilities.

Additionally, under the HEAL Ukraine project, 12 hospitals in Kyiv region have received modern rehabilitation equipment, including parallel bars for walking skills recovery with obstacles, universal stairs for training on inclined surfaces, ceiling lifts with slings, rehabilitation treadmills, therapy tables and couches, gymnastic equipment, and step platforms.

Eleven primary healthcare centres in the region have been equipped with haematological analysers for automated qualitative and quantitative blood analysis.

To provide care at the primary level in remote areas of the Kyiv region, medical facilities have received seven electric vehicles and five Renault Duster off-road cars.

As a reminder, the main goals of the Health Enhancement And Lifesaving (HEAL) Ukraine Project are to restore and improve access to essential medical services, address new and urgent healthcare needs, and ensure financial protection in emergencies.
