  • Germany continues to provide fundamental support to Ukraine, in particular in the areas of environmental protection and green recovery

Germany continues to provide fundamental support to Ukraine, in particular in the field of environmental protection and green recovery. Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine Svitlana Grynchuk announced this on her Facebook page following a call with Steffi Lemke, Federal Minister for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection of the Federal Republic of Germany.

"I am pleased to hear the words of support for our country and the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources from German Minister of the Environment Steffi Lemke. I told my colleague about the current realities in Ukraine and our priorities. We discussed the results of this year's UN Climate Summit COP29 and the areas of German support for Ukraine - climate, industrial pollution, nature reserves, etc. - in the list of our key European integration reforms. The teams of our ministries have been working closely together at the technical level for many years," said Svitlana Grynchuk.

According to her, Germany, as the initiator of the International Platform for Action on the Green Recovery of Ukraine, consistently shares our intentions regarding the principles of green recovery. Our priorities remain the same: the implementation of Point 8 of Volodymyr Zelenskyy's Peace Formula, the development of climate policy and recovery projects.

Svitlana Grynchuk and Steffi Lemke discussed the outcomes of the URC 2024 in Berlin and a number of issues related to the preparation for the upcoming Ukraine Recovery Conference 2025, scheduled for next year in Italy. I believe that with the support of our German partners, this will be a crucial step towards the realisation of our country's environmental ambitions.

Svitlana Grynchuk thanked Steffi for the warm conversation and support and expressed her hope that they would soon meet live in Brussels or Kyiv.
