Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, posted 12 January 2023 17:50

Nigeria will receive 25,000 tonnes of grain within the framework of Grain from Ukraine initiative. This was announced by Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Mykola Solskyi during a meeting with Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Nigeria Geoffrey Onyeama and Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development of the Republic Mohammad Mahmood Abubakar.

The meeting was held as part of an official visit of a delegation of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine to Africa.

Mykola Solskyi noted that even despite the war Ukraine continued to supply food to the countries that need it most. In this regard, 25,000 tonnes of grain will be sent to Nigeria under the Grain from Ukraine initiative. The delivery of food is planned for the coming months.

As a reminder, Grain from Ukraine is a food initiative of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy. It is aimed at providing food to countries that are on the verge of famine, as well as at supporting domestic farmers.

Thus, it combines assistance to countries with food shortages, support for Ukrainian farmers and the Ukrainian economy in general.
