The newly appointed Supervisory Board of the Joint Stock Company NNEGC Energoatom, at a meeting on 17 January 2025, elected the Chairman and Deputy Chairman of the Supervisory Board, as well as formed committees and approved the action plan for 2025. This was announced by First Deputy Minister of Economy of Ukraine Oleksii Sobolev.
Jarek Niewierowicz, former Minister of Energy of Lithuania, was elected Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Energoatom. Michael Kirst, an expert in nuclear energy with more than 30 years of experience, was elected Deputy Chairman.
"Today's meeting of the Supervisory Board is an important step towards effective management of Energoatom. The full functioning of the Supervisory Board will bring the corporate governance of the company in line with the requirements of the law and international standards, in particular the OECD guidelines. This is especially important, given that Energoatom is the largest electricity generator in Ukraine, and its efficiency directly affects the stability of the country's energy system," said First Deputy Minister of Economy Oleksii Sobolev.
The Supervisory Board has set a course for the implementation of OECD corporate governance standards. The members of the Supervisory Board have prioritised compliance with the highest nuclear safety standards, as well as transparency and professionalism to support the important role of the state-owned company in national and international energy systems.
As a reminder, the Government formed the Supervisory Board of Energoatom in June 2024.
