Agreement between Ukraine and Canada on Mutual Administrative Assistance in Customs Matters entered into force
On April 7, the Agreement between Ukraine and Canada on Mutual Administrative Assistance in Customs Matters entered into force following the exchange of diplomatic notes between the parties.
This event was preceded by the signing of the relevant decree by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
The implementation of the Agreement shall promote cooperation between the customs authorities of the two countries, in particular through the exchange of information to prevent, detect, and investigate violations of customs legislation. The document is also aimed to strengthen the ability to combat customs offenses and contribute to enhancing the security of international supply chains for goods.
The Agreement is also to help Ukraine and Canada more effectively combat smuggling and the illicit trade in weapons, narcotics, and other dangerous goods.
As a reminder, the Agreement was signed on August 24, 2025, by Ukrainian Minister of Finance Serhii Marchenko and Canadian Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Ukraine Natalka Cmoc.
