  • On the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference, a meeting of Ministers of Ukraine and Japan took place

    Today, February 15, in the framework of participation in the Munich Security Conference, Ukrainian Defense Minister Andrii Zagorodniuk met with Japan Defense Minister Taro Kono.

    Andrii Zagorodniuk noted the intensification of cooperation in the defense sector between the countries in recent years, as well as the importance of further expanding interaction between defense ministries.

    While discussing the state of affairs, the parties emphasized on the continued implementation of the Memorandum between the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine and the Ministry of Defense of Japan on cooperation and exchanges in the defense sector.

    From a perspective, Ministers noted the possibility of collaborating on cybersecurity, sharing experiences (including counteracting hybrid threats), expanding participation in joint training, and cooperating in the fields a of high-tech projects and digitization.

    The Minister of Defense of Ukraine expressed his gratitude to the Japanese side for the continued support for Ukraine's territorial integrity within the internationally recognized borders, as well as for the comprehensive assistance package provided by the Government of Japan.
