The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has allocated an additional UAH 5.6 billion from the state budget reserve fund for the construction of fortifications. The Government made the decision at a meeting on 2 April 2024.
"We are systematically and thoroughly increasing Ukraine's defence capability. Today, the Government has allocated an additional UAH 5.6 billion for the construction of fortifications. We are talking about fortifying key areas in the north-east, east and south of the country. The work is proceeding at a rapid pace, with resources from all regions of the country being mobilised. If necessary, the Government remains ready to respond promptly to the requests of our defenders and provide sufficient funding for the construction of fortifications," said Yuliia Svyrydenko, First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine and Minister of Economy.
The funds will be used, in particular, to build fortifications in Sumy, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Kherson and Mykolaiv regions.
In total, since the beginning of 2024, the Government has allocated over UAH 25 billion for the construction of fortifications (including the current decision).
