Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Mykola Solskyi held a regular online meeting with Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry of the Republic of Moldova Vladimir Bolea.

The parties discussed steps aimed at significantly increasing the volume of transportation of Ukrainian agricultural products by the Moldovan railway, including by reducing the tariff for such transportation.

In the coming weeks, the Ukrainian and Moldovan railways are expected to announce the agreements reached on the reduction of tariffs for rail transport through the territory of the Republic of Moldova to the ports of Reni, Giurgiuleşti and Galați.

Such steps are aimed not only at increasing the volume of Ukrainian grain transportation, but also at relieving the strain on Romanian logistics infrastructure, which is especially important this season due to the expectations of a rich harvest in Romania and neighbouring countries.

Vladimir Bolea noted that Moldova was interested in fruitful cooperation with Ukraine in the interests of both countries.

Mykola Solskyi, in turn, thanked for the support and understanding.

The meeting was also attended by Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Markiyan Dmytrasevych, Advisor to the Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Mykhailo Sokolov, First Deputy Minister for Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development of Ukraine Vasyl Shkurakov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the Republic of Moldova Marko Shevchenko, Director of the Commercial Operations Department of JSC Ukrzaliznytsia Andrii Miroshnikov, representatives of Moldovan line ministries, Chairman of the Board of JSC Ukrzaliznytsia Yevhen Liashchenko, and CEO of the Moldovan Railways Oleg Tofilat.
