Mykola Kalashnyk held an online meeting with representatives of the Government of Moldova on transport connectivity and border infrastructure

Minister for Recovery, Infrastructure and Transport of Ukraine Mykola Kalashnyk held an online conversation with Deputy Prime Minister — Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development of the Republic of Moldova Vladimir Bolea.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the development of transport connections between Ukraine and Moldova, the creation of alternative logistics routes, modernization of border infrastructure, and implementation of joint infrastructure projects.

Special attention was paid to ensuring the resilience of logistics under constant russian attacks on transport infrastructure and security threats in the Black Sea.

“The security situation in the Black Sea and constant russian attacks force us to create alternative logistics routes today. Our task is to ensure uninterrupted export and import under any circumstances. It is fundamentally important for us that Ukrainian business has reliable backup routes and that logistics remain predictable,” said Mykola Kalashnyk.

One of the key topics of the negotiations was reducing logistics costs for Ukrainian business. The parties agreed to continue working on solutions that will make the transit of Ukrainian cargo through Moldova more competitive and contribute to stable exports of Ukrainian products and imports of critically important goods.

They separately discussed the development of railway connections, backup supply routes, increasing the throughput capacity of the Ukrainian-Moldovan border, and modernization of border infrastructure.

Participants also focused on the implementation of the strategic project to build a bridge crossing over the Dniester between the settlements of Yampil and Cosăuți. The parties emphasized the importance of synchronizing work to open a new international road checkpoint, thereby expanding transport connectivity between Ukraine and Moldova.

Another agenda item was improving travel conditions on the 7.7-kilometer transit section of the road in the Palanca area. The parties will work on solutions to reduce crossing time on this section and make movement more comfortable for citizens and carriers.

As a result of the conversation, Mykola Kalashnyk and Vladimir Bolea agreed to hold a separate working meeting soon to develop practical steps for implementing joint infrastructure and logistics projects.

“While russia tries to destroy Ukrainian logistics and isolate our state, together with partners we are creating new transport opportunities for people and business. This is how we strengthen Ukraine’s economic resilience and ensure its reliable connection with European transport corridors,” concluded Mykola Kalashnyk.
