Opportunities for development of Solidarity Lanes: a working meeting with EU representatives held
On November 28, an online meeting was held between representatives of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine, JSC Ukrzaliznytsia and the European Commission Directorate-General for Mobility and Transport (DG MOVE).
The discussion focused on the EU’s financial support for infrastructure development, which is necessary to further increase capacity on the western borders of Ukraine. In particular, the parties considered possible areas of distribution of previously announced financial assistance by the EU (up to EUR 1 billion) aimed at development of Solidarity Lanes.
Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Mykola Solsky stressed the importance of further development of Ukrainian export corridors.
During the discussion, he stressed that in order to ensure exports through land border crossing points to the EU and third countries, it is necessary to build transshipment terminals on the western borders, as well as to increase the number of European-type railcars and vehicles for the transportation of agricultural products.
Mykola Solsky thanked for EU’s support and expressed hope that the parties would find optimal solutions for the effective use of assistance.
In the future, the partners agreed to develop a common position on priority projects to be financed with the support of the European Union.
