Ukrainian higher education institutions to get robotics laboratories: Ministry of Digital Transformation

The Ministry of Digital Transformation, in collaboration with the Association of Robotics and Automated Systems, is launching the RoboLab project. Robotics laboratories will be established at Ukrainian higher education institutions, enabling students and faculty to test ideas and develop robotic technologies.

The pilot laboratory will be launched at a university in Kyiv. Applications from universities interested in becoming the pilot site for the project are now open.

“We are finally launching the ambitious RoboLab project, which will shape the development of robotics in Ukraine. Technologies should emerge during education. Students and those interested in advancing innovation will have a platform to test their ideas and products,” said Mykhailo Fedorov, First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine.

The selection process for the pilot higher education institution will run until 14 September. The next step is to expand the network of robotics laboratories nationwide.

The selection will be conducted by a professional jury comprising representatives from government bodies, donor organisations, professional associations, and other stakeholders.

“The launch of RoboLab is a crucial step towards building a true robotics ecosystem in Ukraine. Opening such laboratories is an investment in the country’s future, in competitive specialists, and in breakthrough technologies that can transform not only education but also Ukraine’s industry and economy. We invite universities to join this movement and together build a strong community of engineers, researchers, and entrepreneurs of the new generation,” said Iryna Lehkobyt, General Director of the Association of Robotics and Automated Systems.

The selected higher education institution will host a laboratory with up to 30 workstations. Construction of the laboratory is expected to take approximately three months. It will be equipped with specialised tools, mechatronics kits, 3D modelling and design software, robotic platforms, and various AI tools.

The RoboLab project is implemented by the Association of Robotics and Automated Systems at the initiative of the Ministry of Digital Transformation, in partnership with the Ministry of Education and Science, and supported by the Ukraine-Moldova American Enterprise Fund, technology company Ajax Systems, and Deus Robotics.
