The First Deputy Minister of Social Policy of Ukraine Olga Krentovska is on a working visit to the United States to participate in the Conference of States Parties to the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD).
The First Deputy Minister will inform the participants about the Government actions aimed at implementing the provisions of the Convention particularly concerning the rights of persons with disabilities.
The session will expect to feature among other agenda items an election of members of the Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. The Ukrainian side proposed the candidacy of Governmental Commissioner for the Rights of People with Disabilities Raisa Panasyuk for the said Committee.
The agenda also encapsulates the discussion of the following sub-themes:
1. National fiscal space, public-private partnerships and international cooperation for strengthening the implementation of the CRPD;
2. Women and girls with disabilities;
3. Political participation and equal recognition before the law.
An interactive dialogue between States Parties, the United Nations system structures and other stakeholders on the implementation of the Convention is scheduled to be held.
