The Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine creates the Sectoral Cybersecurity Center for transport infrastructure as a segment of the national cybersecurity system. This was stated by Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Volodymyr Omelyan during the press conference at the Ministry of Infrastructure on August 17, 2018.
"In order to ensure the cybersecurity of the industry and counteract cyber threats, the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine decided to set up the Sectoral Cybersecurity Center for Transport Infrastructure in Ukraine as a segment of the national cybersecurity system and a strategically important element in the system of measures for strengthening the defense capacity and enhancing the competitiveness of the state. The main task of the center will be monitoring of the cyber security of the transport industry, timely providing information on cyber threats and exchanging information on cyber incidents with national cyber security centers of the State Service for Special Communication and Information Protection and the Security Service of Ukraine", Volodymyr Omelyan said.
The Minister of Infrastructure noted that the aggression of the Russian Federation is continuing and radical changes in the security environment of Ukraine require the urgent establishment of the Sectoral Cybersecurity Center for Transport Infrastructure as an integral part of the system of ensuring Ukraine's national security.
Volodymyr Omelyan stressed that during 2016-2017 due to cyber attacks, transport companies suffered significant material and reputational losses. The cyber attacks violated the continuous work of information systems at both the local and sectoral levels.
"Providing sectoral and national cybersecurity is our common aim. Only by uniting our efforts we will be able to create safe conditions for the development of the Ukrainian economy and society in the modern digital world ", Volodymyr Omelyan underscored.
