On July 4, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine decided to allocate almost UAH 5.3 billion in subventions to hromadas in 10 regions: Vinnytsia, Dnipropetrovsk, Zhytomyr, Kyiv, Kirovohrad, Odesa, Poltava, Sumy, Cherkasy and Chernihiv regions.
The source of the subvention is the funds allocated by the European Investment Bank (EIB) under the joint programme of Ukraine and the EIB Ukraine Early Recovery Programme.
What region and how much will receive?
Vinnytsia region - UAH 373.6 million;
Dnipropetrovsk region - UAH 519.1 million;
Zhytomyr region - UAH 445.4 million;
Kyiv region - UAH 2.4 billion;
Kirovohrad region - UAH 244.2 million;
Odesa region - UAH 455.2 million;
Poltava region - UAH 643.7 million
Sumy region - UAH 82.2 million;
Cherkasy region - UAH 98.9 million;
Chernihiv region - UAH 42.9 million.
What will the funds be used for?
The funds will be used to restore 109 facilities, including educational and healthcare institutions, centers for administrative service provision (CASPs), critical infrastructure facilities, etc.
It should be noted that the financial agreement between Ukraine and the EIB Ukraine Early Recovery Programme was signed on 9 December 2020. It provides for EUR 340 million to be raised to restore social infrastructure, housing and communal services, etc.
Priority is given to those regions that have suffered the most as a result of armed aggression or have experienced the greatest burden due to a significant influx of internally displaced persons.
As a reminder, in June, the Government approved the Procedure and Conditions for the allocation of almost UAH 4.48 billion of subventions to local budgets for the restoration and development of infrastructure, including schools, hospitals, housing, utilities, etc.
