Ministry of Energy: Estonia and Spain contribute more than EUR 55,500 to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund

Estonia and Spain have made new contributions to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund, providing a combined total of more than EUR 55,500.

In particular, the Fund received EUR 25,000 from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Estonia, bringing Estonia’s total contribution to more than EUR 2.6 million.

A further EUR 30,600 was contributed by the Embassy of Spain in Ukraine under the “Urgent Energy Solidarity with Ukraine” project through the Association for the Promotion of Ukraine’s Development. Spain’s total contribution to the Fund now exceeds EUR 4.5 million.

“We highly value the solidarity of our friends, which helps strengthen Ukraine’s energy resilience. These new contributions provide additional opportunities to respond swiftly to the needs of Ukraine’s energy sector. This support enables us to procure the equipment we need and prepare the energy system for the coming winter,” stressed First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine – Minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal.

The Ukraine Energy Support Fund (UESF) was established in spring 2022 with the agreement of the European Commission and the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine to help address the consequences of Russian attacks targeting critical energy infrastructure.

Since the Fund was established, it has received more than EUR 2 billion in grant funding from 39 foreign sponsors from 26 partner countries and three international organisations.

The Fund is an effective mechanism that enables governments, international financial institutions, international organisations and corporate donors to provide financial support to Ukraine’s energy sector in addressing the damage caused and ensuring the uninterrupted operation of the energy system.
